A short while ago a Joint Seminar on Empirical Software Engineering with computer science students from the Free University of Bolzano, the Universität Innsbruck and the University of Trento was organized in Brixen, Italy. The two-day event was funded by the Euregio Mobility Fund. It was the first joint teaching initiative in computer science by the three universities from the historical region of the Tyrol. The event was organized by the three software engineering researchers Dr. Andrea Janes (Bolzano), Priv.-Doz. Dr. Michael Felderer (Innsbruck), and Dr. Katsiaryna Labunets (Trento). The goal of the event was to popularize empirical software engineering (ESE) methods among graduate students in software engineering. During the seminar, the students developed and empirically investigated prediction models for vulnerabilities. The joint seminar received – not only because of the delicious food served in Brixen – very good feedback from the overall 30 participating students and will be repeated next year. For students from the University of Innsbruck, the joint seminar was also credited as a QSP Lab.
